"Last year after I relocated to this area I heard about the Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk and thought it would be fun to do next year. The truth was, I knew there was no way I would be able to do all 60 miles with my current physical condition. The long hours of studying and the stress of grad school had gotten to me and I had “let myself go”. I was always tired, rarely ate anything that wasn’t fast food, and definitely wasn’t working out like I had been in the past.
After graduating in August of 2006 and then passing my boards in November, I decided it was time for me to get back on track. Like so many others, my New Year’s resolution was to lose weight. I knew I couldn’t do it by myself though, and that’s where Ali comes in. With her assistance I have not only lost weight, but am more toned, much more coordinated, and definitely stronger. Thanks to Ali and her willingness to educate me on nutrition I now know how to eat a healthy, well balanced diet, which is something I have always struggled with. I have also gotten back into running and started training for and participating in races…something I never could have done last year at this time.
Earlier this year, Ali asked if I wanted to do the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk with her. I said yes immediately, but was hesitant of my ability to complete all 60 miles. October 19-21 I participated in the Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk for the first time and I am proud to say I completed all 60 miles with no complaints and even some energy to spare!
I have lost 7% body fat and over 13 inches since I began. I have completely changed my lifestyle, feel better than ever, have tons more energy, and regained confidence that I never thought I would. Without Ali‘s guidance, support, motivation, and friendship I would not be where I am at today!"
