"My story begins after Thanksgiving. I was on a week long business trip and the pants I planned to wear one morning wouldn’t fit. I could get them buttoned but I wasn’t very comfortable. Being naive I thought they must have shrunk from all of the washing. That evening I went to the local mall to pick up a new pair of pants. After picking out my size and heading to the register a little voice inside my head told me to try them on. Again, I couldn’t button them. Back to the rack I went and picked up the next two sizes. Much to my disappointment the largest size fit me. I knew something had to be done.

Upon returning home I was introduced to Ali. I mentioned that I wanted to participate in local running and biking events and that I’d like to be in shape to participate in the Clearwater Ironman. We made an appointment for a fitness evaluation. Well, from here you might say the rest is history.

When Ali and I met we went through several physical assessments, talked about my goals and how best for me to reach those goals. As you can see by the before and after pictures, Ali has done a great job in helping me lose the fat and shape up. It wasn’t easy! The program that Ali designed was grueling; we joke after the workout that if I can find a dry spot on my shirt, then we didn’t workout hard enough.

In addition to Ali guiding me through workouts, she suggested running and biking routines for me to do on the days I wasn’t working out with her. She suggested I change my eating patterns and determined the number of calories I should consume in a day. We also talked about what I should and shouldn’t eat, as well as about using vitamins and supplements. After all, a diet of 1700 calories isn’t any good if those calories come from doughnuts!

Selecting Ali as my personal trainer was a smart move. She’s used her experiences as a triathlete to build my program to meet my goals. She is quite the motivator! She’s right there with me explaining how to do the exercises, what muscle groups they’re working and encouraging me to push myself. There is always one more rep inside one’s self. Even on the days when I don’t work out with Ali, she is still motivating me. When I get up and start wavering about going for a morning run, at 6 AM, I think, “Well Ali’s already up and working out so I better get out and run”.

To sum it up, if you what to lose a few pounds and improve your quality of life, start with a personal trainer. They know how to help you lose the weight and get in shape."
